Aujourd'hui, nous avons été surpris de lire une histoire inhabituelle sur le Huffington Post sur un père en Floride qui a été arrêté pour fumer du cannabis provenant de graines de cannabis dans la salle d'accouchement de l'hôpital.

Le père âgé de 28 ans, attendait dans la salle d'accouchement pour sa femme. Il a commencé à se sentir mal à l'aise et nerveux au sujet de ses futures responsabilités en tant que père. Afin de calmer ses nerfs, il a décidé de fumer du cannabis de graine autofloraison.

Une infirmière qui passait par là qu'elle a attrapé une bouffée de son père en train de fumer. Elle a immédiatement appelé la police qui ont questionné le père, ont confisqué son vaporisateur de cannabis et l'ont arrêté.

In an effort to prevent future religion-based clashes in the streets, the Egyptian military-led government has announced that it will consider reopening up to 48 churches that were closed during the reign of former President Hosni Mubarak.

The move came in response to an escalation in tensions between majority Muslims and minority Coptic Christians in Cairo, the capital. The army had arrested nearly 200 people involved in violent clashes, including the burning of a church, that resulted in 12 deaths and more than 200 injuries. The prime minister, Essam Sharaf, canceled a trip of Gulf states in order to consult with the rest of the government. Protests against the violence took place in Alexandria.

The former tourism minister, Zoheir Garranah, is heading to jail for five years after being convicted of misusing public funds. He will join former Interior Minister Habib el-Adli, who was given a 12-year sentence after being convicted on charges of money laundering. They are the first two members of the Mubarak's cabinet to be convicted. Mubarak himself is still being detained at a hospital, where he was admitted after complaining of heart problems. He is charged with crimes that could get him the death penalty if convicted.

In economic news, the government reported an increase in inflation resulting from higher food prices, which were up 20 percent across the country over 2010 prices. The central bank estimated that the country's growth rate would be as low as 2 percent, down from a forecast of 6 percent earlier this year.

The violence continues against anti-government protesters in Syrian cities.

The latest instance was of tanks rolling into Homs, the country's third-largest city, to convince protesters to abandon their marches and calls for political reform. Residents of other towns reported tanks in their streets as well.

Armed security forces accompanied the tanks and were seen firing on crowds. More than 600 people have been killed since the March 18 beginning of the uprising, in Daraa. The attacks against protesters were ordered by President Bashar al-Assad, focus of the protest movement.

Al-Assad has been in charge of the government for just 11 years, succeeding his famous father, Hafez Assad. The younger al-Assad, in the wake of the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, initially agreed to consider the governmental reforms but, when confronted by renewed protests for even more reforms, responded by ordering violent crackdowns and large numbers of arrests. Witnesses reported security forces going door-to-door in some cities, searching for protesters to arrest. In the meantime, the government has also shut down electricity and communications in several key areas of a few cities.

World leaders have been outspoken in their condemnation of the violence in Syria. U.S. President Barack Obama announced a new set of sanctions on Syria, and the European Union announced an arms embargo against the Damascus government.

Echoing the sanctions and the embargo was the United Nations, whose highest human rights group issued a stark condemnation of the violence.

Saudi Arabia, the kingdom known for its vast oil reserves, is thinking green.

A statement from the Oil Ministry said that the government was looking into ways to get energy from a variety of sources, including nuclear, solar, and wind — all of which the kingdom hopes to be utilizing by 2020.

It's not a question of the oil running out. The government said it had 264 billion barrels of oil in reserve, enough to meet current demand for the next 80 years. However, demand is expected to increase, and so the kingdom is exploring new ways to generate electricity for itself, so it doesn't have to depend on oil, like the rest of the world. Specifically, demand now sits at about 3.2 million barrels a day. The Saudi government expects that figure to rise to 8 million barrels a day in 2028. That demand is both internal and external. The more energy the country can get from non-oil sources, the more oil would be available to sell to other countries.

Saudi government officials have been consulting with energy officials from Europe, Asia, and North America, focusing on ways to reduce reliance on fossil fuels without precipitously cutting energy use. Already under way is a pilot project to make better use of solar thermal energy. One more strategy being pursued is to convert existing power plants running only on oil or only on coal into multi-use facilities.

Oil is still by far the most-used source of energy, although many countries are experimenting with other technologies to try to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

In the wake of growing discontent with crushing poverty exacerbated by the Jan. 12 earthquake, Haitian President Rene Preval tried to deflect criticism of his government's reaction to the crisis as he paid his annual visit to Arcahaie to commemorate Flag Day, the country's second-most-sacred holiday.

Preval, who has been elected and re-elected, is scheduled to step down when his current terms ends on Feb. 7, 2011. However, he has recently said that he would continue serving as the country's leader if the presidential election scheduled for November doesn't take place. In a speech recently, Preval said he would be willing to remain as president for up to three months. Protests against Preval's handling of the post-quake crisis have increased in recent days, with many people calling for his ouster and for the return of former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide, now in exile.

The situation is further complicated because at the moment, only one-third of Parliament has been elected. The election planned for February was canceled in the wake of the massive earthquake, which killed tens of thousands and left homeless many more. So the other two-thirds of Parliament need to be elected and seated, and then a new president needs to be elected. Both of those tasks are taxing for governments in "normal" years; getting them both done in the wake of rebuilding of government buildings and databases might prove extremely difficult.

Flag Day marks the day in 1803 when the revolutionary congress made their country's new flag, by removing the white part of the French red-white-blue tricolor that so symbolized the European country's domination of the Caribbean island (and enslavement of its people) for so many years. Flag Day, May 18, is also two days before the birthday of Toussaint L‚'Ouverture, the man who led the revolution.

Got some points to share with you about my recent encounter this morning when I was about to go work. I used to woke early around 5:00 am in the morning as I need to catch our company bus who were passing through my accommodation around 6:05. I thought it was just a normal day I used to have waiting our bus and cathing up with some of my colleagues at work who were riding with me too in the bus. But when we are about to reach the Airport Road (Abu Dhabi, UAE) to catch some of my colleagues who been waiting for a while I wondering why is it that its too traffic already well in fact, it was not used to be like that during that particular time. There were still few cars who are hitting the road to come to the office as early as possible.

But this morning is quite a surprise for me! Around 20 meters away from Airport Road I could see that several people are running back and forth. I don't know what's going on so I stood up and consiously watching what was happening over there and to my surprise there's a fire in one of the department store in the said street. When we almost reach the street where the incident area is located I could see how bad the situation was. Several families lost their houses, things, and all other valuable belongings.

One thing I noticed when I moved down from our company bus as we are advised to go out from the car by the driver 'cause it wont be possible to pass by the street, the exit signs of the the said building is too poor. There were several rescuers who are on the process of saving the lives of those people who are being trapped in the top of the building. Sad to noticed that some people don't care about the valuability of exit signs until such worst situation comes only then they realized that it is indeed important.

Lately, I hear a news aired in one of the largest telecomms here in UAE the place was abandone for a day and probably early tomorrow the traffic system will be on normal mode. So, far nobody dies but some has a minimal injuries due to hurry evacuation.
