Cooking Tips: Pork Afritada...

Just last night I cooked one of the Philippine Dish which is commonly cook by a lot of professional and local chefs in the Philippines. In fact, this was the very first I cooked this type of dish. I never thought that I could make some by just follwing the Cooking Tips I've found online. Here is the recipe and procedure of the said Dish I’m talking here..

PORK AFRITADA

750 g. of pork liempo (belly)
*You may also use the shoulder or rump
250 g. of stewing potatoes
2 carrots
2 red or green bell peppers
3-4 tomatoes
3/4 c. of frozen sweet peas, thawed
3/4 c. of tomato paste
2 c. of meat broth or water
6 tbsps. of olive oil
1 whole garlic
2 large onions
2 bay leaves
salt and pepper

Cooking procedure :

Cut the pork into 2 x 2 inch cubes.

Peel and finely mince the garlic. Coarsely chop the tomatoes.

Heat the olive oil in a thick-bottomed casserole. When hot, add the pork cubes and cook over high heat until the edges start to brown. The pork will initially expel water. Just keep the heat up until the mixture dries up and the pork starts to render fat. Then cook the pork in the mixture of fat and oil until the edges start to brown. At this point, you can pour off the fat.

Add the garlic, tomatoes, bay leaves and tomato paste to the pork and stir well. Season with salt and pepper. Pour in the meat broth and water, stir, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the rest of the vegetables. Peel the carrots and potatoes and cut into wedges. Peel the onions and cut into chunks. Core and seed the bell peppers and dice.

Add the vegetables to the stew. Stir well. Cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until the meat and vegetables are done. Add more broth or water if necessary. Add only about half a cup each time to avoid thinning the sauce. Adjust the seasonings. Finally, add the sweet peas and simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes.

Let stand for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Serve hot.

Try it for you to proved how good Philippine dish is! Enjoy the recipe everyone!

Talk about food.

Did the recent meat recalls set off a veggie alarm in your brain? Well, we all know how great vegetarianism is for the planet. But, if you’re not ready to take the veggie plunge, at least try getting your meat from a less-alarming source (not always easy – but there are some things to watch for). Here are some typical minimum requirements for eco-meat labels:

* Organic – animals get access to the outdoors (cows, sheep, and goats get pasture time), bedding materials, and aren’t injected with hormones or antibiotics.
* Cage-free Poultry – birds aren’t kept in cages.
* Free-range – animals are given access to the outdoors.
* Pasture-raised and grass-fed – animals get access to the outdoors and can graze.
* Humanely raised – animals get exercise and their cages are big enough for them to move in.
* Hormone-free – cows aren’t injected with any hormones (using hormones on chickens and pigs is already against the law).
* Shop Around – for organic and free-range meat.
* Just Ask – your butcher where the meat you’re buying came from.

Benefits would be: Letting animal rights activists sleep more soundly. Free-range animals, for example, are allowed to spend time outdoors and have more space than those at conventional factory farms. You can also waking up to energy savings. According to a study, organic farming uses 30% less energy than factory farms for the same yields. And, you will have healthier and bright-eyed life. Organic animals are raised without antibiotics or artificial hormones, and aren’t genetically modified.

I never had an idea as to what multivend implies until such time when I arrived here in Tokyo, Japan I happened to find out that it is a dispenser machine of the ready made products that are being store inside the multivend machine. In fact, multivend machine here in Tokyo, Japan is seen and can be found in any corner of the City and its really quite observable. On the other hand, vending machines is much better than those alternative way of selling ready made products 'cause it enables the vendor or the owner of the vending machine to do other stuff rather than waiting for somebody to approach them to buy for something. Right? I guess it is!

Eventually, multivend machines is just one of the best and smartest product of BizBuySell.com. They got a wide franchise for a vending machines. So, if you wish to own a vending machine for your own use and business just contact the BizBuySell.com.

Beef Steak Special...

Yes, this recipe…called BEEF STEAK…My Sis found it in one of her favorite site the PinoyCook.net. I just can’t imagen that I cook it by myself…But one thing worst about it is I wasn’t able to made it perfectly cook…The taste is bad which really contradict in the picture itself..look….Isn’t it bad? I guess, the picture shows that it taste good but what an irony…The taste is really bad ’cause I wasn’t able to cook it perfectly…maybe better luck next time…:)
Here is the recipe…

Ingredients :

1/2 kilo of beef (round, sirloin or tenderloin), sliced 1/4-inch thick
4 tbsp. of kalamansi (native lemon) juice
1/4 c. of dark soy sauce
freshly-ground pepper
1 tsp. of minced garlic
2 large onions, cut into rings
2 tbsp. of cooking oil

Cooking procedure :

In a glass mixing bowl, mix kalamansi or lemon juice and soy sauce. Add beef, garlic and ground pepper. Mix well. Let sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Heat a heavy skillet. Add oil. Lightly fry the onion rings. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Keep warm.

Reheat oil until smoking. Pan-fry the beef slices in batches, removing them as they brown. When all the beef has been cooked, pour the marinade into the skillet and boil for 1 minute

Arrange beef slices on a plate. Place the onion rings on top. Pour the sauce over the onions and beef. Serve at once.

Specially Cooked...

Yeah!...I actually cooked it by my self. Its a dish that Filipinos often called "BIHON"...Actually, I learn my cooking skills from my mentor in the persons of my Mother and Grandmother. But their are also types of dishes that I my self is experimenting it just to come up the dish that I want to serve. In fact, I'm not a certified chef of course...hehe...I'm just a certified Home Chef for my family ...But honestly, my Sis, my friends, my Mom or even my Girlfriend told me that why won't I take some culinary arts subject for me to hone my cooking skills. Honestly, I wanted too but I guess, time won't allow me to do it. Aside from that, I can't spend yet for my own tuition fees but maybe somehow I guess!...But one thing for sure I cooked as long as I like and as long as I love to cooked. Here is the recipe for my "Home Made Special Bijon"...

Ingredients:

1/4 Kilo Pork (cut it into your desired form but I suggest cut it into rectangle size)
Dark Soy Sauce
Vinegar
Tomato
Oil
Onion
Garlic
Freshly Cround Pepper
Carrots
Chili
1/2 kilo Bijon
Sodium
Cabbage

Procedure:

1. Marinate the pork with dark soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, sodium for about 20 minute.
2. Heat a heavy skillet. Add oil. Fry the pork until it gets read.
3. When pork is read already pour the onion, tomato, chili on it and mix it well.
4. After doing such, pour the cut carrots which is cut like rectangle size into the skillet. Mix it well. Leave it for about 3 minutes.
5. After that, pour now the Bijon into the skillet and mix it well.
6. When the Bijon turns to lightly brown put now the cut cabbage. Mix it well and live for 3 minutes.
7. Serve at best choices.

Expensive City!

Foods, Clothing, and Shelter is the three major things that man can't live without! Foods are simply the one which gives us complete nutrients and vitamins to be strong and eventually got a healthy body in order for us to face our daily undertakings. Simultaneously, Clothing also provide its vital role in man's life. It includes protection of the body against strong sunlight, extreme heat or cold, and precipitation; protection against insects, noxious chemicals, weapons, contact with abrasive substances -- in sum, against anything that might injure an unprotected human body. Humans have shown extreme inventiveness in devising clothing solutions to practical problems. While Shelter plays the role in man's life by protecting them in any harm and danger which 'cause by the strong wind, floods, earthquakes and all other forms of natural calamities and forms of danger actions made by man itself. This three major things is indeed essential for our life-long survival as we search our individual destination.

Through that reason, even if how expensive that three (3) major things here in Tokyo my Sis and her Hubby really needs to purchased it just to do a living and for them to survive. Tokyo's economy is really raising ever single second because as I happened to know all the prices they sell it was really expensive. I just can't imagen the price of 3 little Gingers which packed already cost us 105 yen which in our country it cost us 39 pesos which eventually we could buy it for only 15 pesos...Could you imagen that?...How much more the other things they sell?...I'm pretty sure its really quite expensive! But I guess, one important thing we should not forget if we happened to flew to other places and live for several months or years is that it is NOT OUR COUNTRY! We have to adjust and adopt to what their laws tells us 'cause its for own good and for us to be able to survive in their life style.

As a conclusion, living to other countries is really quite different from the place we were born and grow up with! So, if you chose to live countries like Tokyo or other expensive city/country be sure you can manage to do a living. Have a great day everyone!....c",)

My Native Recipe: "Nilatikang Saging"

I just cooked earlier before I got to blog it my Sisters favorite recipe of mine which we commonly called "Nilatikang Saging". It's one of the known recipe already but I guess I got my own style which is rarely different from others the way they cook it!. Nobody taught me how to cook it, even my Mother nor my Grandmother who was my mentor in the field of cooking...laughing...c",)...I just happened to know how to cook it in my own. Though I'm not a good cooker but I guess the best essence of cooking is just "the power of your mind to think". Be creative as you are and do something. Here is the recipe of my Special Nilatikang Saging and its procedure on how to cook it.

Recipe:

1. 1 Grinned Coconut
2. 9-10 pcs. ripe Banana
3. 3/4 Sugar Cane (Brown)
4. 1 tsp. Iodized Salt
5. 1 tsp. Monosodium Glutamate
6. 20 grams. Evaporated Milk
7. 3 1/2 Glass of water

Procedure:

1. Cook the Bananas first around 30 minutes but it depends on ripeness of the Banana.
2. While waiting before the Bananas gets cooked. Mixed the 3 1/2 glass of water into
the Grinned Coconut and separate the Coconut Oil in the Frying pan.
3. After doing so, boil the separated Coconut Oil. Wait around 5 minutes 'til the Coconut oil
gets hot.
4. When its already boiled around 5 minutes, mixed the 3/4 Sugar Cane in the Coconut Oil.
5. Keep mixing the sugar cane in the coconut oil 'til it gets a little bet sticky.
6. When it gets little sticky already, mixed the cooked Bananas. Wait around 2-3 minutes
'til its done.
7. You may now enjoy it!

That's my Native Recipe!...Enjoy it guys!...Have a blessed day everyone!...c",)
